Tidio review

4.0/ 5 Easiest to start

Short verdict: Tidio is the lowest-friction way into AI customer service. A permanent free plan, an install measured in minutes, and billing that follows your traffic instead of your headcount. For a one-person shop or a small store with spiky demand, it is the obvious place to start.

The catch: conversation-based billing is harder to forecast than per-seat pricing. Your bill moves with volume, so a good month for traffic is a bad month for your invoice — and the cheap tiers stop being cheap as you grow.

Who this is for — and who should close this tab

Good fit

  • Solo founders and very small shops
  • Ecommerce with seasonal or spiky traffic
  • You want to prove AI support works before paying
  • One or two people handle every conversation

Poor fit

  • You need white-label or client sub-accounts
  • You have a large staffed support team
  • Volume is high and predictable
  • You need a bill you can forecast to the dollar

The free plan: what you get and where it stops

This is Tidio’s strongest card and the reason we suggest it as a starting point. Unlike a time-limited trial, the free plan is permanent, which means you can put AI-assisted support in front of real customers and find out whether it actually helps before you commit a budget.

Where it stops: the free tier is built for a very small volume of conversations. It is a legitimate way to validate the approach and not a way to run a busy support function. Expect to move to a paid tier once real traffic arrives.

Pricing: every plan, read off Tidio’s own page

Tidio charges by billable conversations rather than seats. You pick a volume band and the price follows it. These figures were read directly off Tidio’s pricing page on 13 October 2026.

The yearly column is what Tidio displays by default and what we read directly from their page. The monthly figures marked “reported” are not on Tidio’s site — their toggle renders client-side, so those come from independent listings of the same page. Confirm before you budget against them.

The definition that decides your bill

Tidio’s FAQ defines a billable conversation as a live chat, ticket, email or social thread that includes a reply from a human agent. Two details follow, and both work in your favour:

So size your plan on the conversations a human has to touch, not the ones that arrive. For most stores that is a much smaller number, and it is the single most important thing to understand about this pricing model.

The other two meters

Three separate meters, not one. Human conversations, Lyro AI conversations and Flows visitors are billed independently, and most teams end up buying two of the three. Price the combination you actually intend to use rather than the headline tier.

The risk of conversation billing

Per-seat pricing is flat as traffic rises. Conversation pricing is the opposite: your costs move with the thing you are trying to grow. For a seasonal business this is often a feature — you pay for the busy months and little in the quiet ones. For a business whose volume is climbing steadily, it means the bill climbs with it, and a viral week is not always a profitable week.

Lyro AI: what it costs and when it pays off

Lyro is Tidio’s AI agent, sold on its own conversation quota rather than bundled into the support plan: the first 50 conversations are free for the lifetime of the account, and paid quotas run from 50 to 1,000 per month. Tidio’s free trial covers the full feature set for 7 days without a card, and the account drops back to the Free plan afterwards if you do nothing.

Whether it pays off depends entirely on your ticket mix. If most of your conversations are questions already answered on your site — order status, shipping times, returns policy — an AI agent can absorb a large share of them. If your conversations are bespoke, high-value negotiations, it will not, and you should not buy it.

How we researched this page

Tidio renders its plan prices with client-side JavaScript, so a naive scrape of the pricing page returns almost nothing — which is exactly why several review sites publish vague or out-of-date numbers for this product. We read the figures out of the page source directly and cross-checked them against two independent write-ups of the same page before publishing them here.

What we checked:

What this review is — and what it is not. It is a documentation-based review. Tidio renders its prices client-side, so we read the figures out of the page source directly and cross-checked them against independent write-ups before publishing. What we have not done is run a live account or measure Lyro’s real resolution rate against a live queue — and we will not claim otherwise.

That shapes how you should use this page, and Tidio makes it unusually easy. The free plan costs nothing and needs no card. Start there: watch what the free plan runs out of first, and watch whether the billable counter moves when Lyro answers a conversation without you. If what you see contradicts this page, tell us — the correction is worth more to us than the original claim.

FAQ

Is Tidio really free?

Yes — there is a permanent free plan, not just a trial. It is built for low volume, so treat it as a way to validate AI support on real customers before committing budget, not as a way to run a busy support function.

What is a billable conversation?

A customer conversation that Tidio counts against your monthly allowance. Because the plan is priced in bands of these, your bill follows your traffic rather than your team size. Check the current definition on their pricing page — the detail of what counts has changed before.

Should I buy Lyro AI straight away?

Use the 7-day trial first and measure it against conversations you have already recorded. If your tickets are mostly order status, shipping and returns questions, it will likely pay for itself. If they are bespoke, it probably will not.

Can I use Tidio if I run an agency?

Not for client work. There is no white-label and no client sub-account structure. If you serve multiple clients, see the white-label options.
