Text (LiveChat) review
Short verdict: Text is the most conventional product in this comparison and that is its strength. Per-seat pricing, mature routing, assignments and reporting, with an AI agent layered on top. If your support is a real team with shifts, this is the one that maps to how you already work.
The catch: AI resolutions are metered separately from seats. The entry tier includes 120 of them per year. Push real AI volume through it and you will be buying resolution packs before the quarter is out.
Who this is for — and who should close this tab
Good fit
- One business with a staffed support queue
- Three or more people answering conversations
- Stable, forecastable ticket volume
- You need routing, assignment rules and reporting
Poor fit
- You serve multiple clients and need white-label
- Conversation volume is very low
- One or two people handle everything
- You want AI included without a separate meter
Pricing: what you actually pay

The AI resolution meter is the whole story
Read those numbers again, because they are the difference between Text being good value and being expensive. The entry tier includes ten AI resolutions a month. That is one AI-resolved conversation every three days.
If you are buying an AI agent specifically to deflect volume, ten a month is not a feature — it is a demo. You will either upgrade to the mid tier (200/month on a $99-per-user plan, which means you must justify the higher seat price across your whole team) or you buy packs at $0.99 per resolution.
What the platform does well
- It behaves like a product, not a platform. If you have used a helpdesk before, the concepts transfer and you can be live the same day.
- Routing and assignment. Real queue management, not a shared inbox with delusions.
- Reporting on AI versus human resolution. You can see what the agent actually absorbed, which is the number that justifies the spend to whoever signs off your budget.
- The yearly discount is meaningful. $19 versus $25 per user is roughly a 24% saving, which is not a rounding error at five seats.
Where it gets expensive
- Two meters, not one. Seats and AI resolutions both grow. Forecasting total spend means forecasting both.
- Per-seat pricing punishes coverage. If you need staffing across long hours or multiple shifts, you pay per head whether or not the volume justifies it.
- No white-label or sub-account structure. Per-seat pricing across many client workspaces is the single most expensive way to serve clients in this category.
Pros and cons
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Mature, conventional helpdesk your team already understands | AI resolutions metered separately from seats |
| Real routing, assignments and reporting | 120 AI resolutions per year on the entry tier is close to unusable |
| ~24% saving on yearly billing | Per-seat cost scales with coverage, not workload |
| Clear visibility into AI vs human resolution | No white-label or multi-client structure |
| Live quickly, with a trial to check fit | Two cost meters to forecast |
How we researched this page
Every figure here was read from Text’s own pricing page and product documentation on 13 October 2026. The AI resolution numbers in particular came from the pricing table itself rather than from a summary — they are the most consequential figures on this page.
What we checked:
- The full pricing table, monthly and yearly — including the gap between the $25 monthly and $19 yearly per-user rates, and how many AI agents each tier includes.
- The metered limits and overage prices — 10 AI resolutions a month on the entry tier, 200 on the mid tier, and $49.50 per additional 50. We converted the pack price into a per-resolution cost, because the pack hides how much each one actually costs.
- API and file allowances per tier — the kind of limit that does not matter until it does.
- Whether a free tier exists. It does not — only a trial. That is the single biggest structural difference from Tidio and worth knowing before you shortlist.
- The arithmetic — total cost at 3, 8 and 20 seats, and the AI resolution bill at 200, 1,000 and 5,000 monthly conversations.
What this review is — and what it is not. It is a documentation-based review: every figure comes from Text’s own pricing table and product documentation, read directly and dated. We have not run a live account, so we make no claims about interface quality, setup friction, support responsiveness, or how the AI performs on a real queue. Those are exactly the things a pricing page cannot tell you, and we will not invent them.
That shapes how you should use this page. Treat it as the briefing to read before you start a trial: it tells you what each tier actually includes, where the AI resolution meter will bite, and what to watch during the first month. If the trial contradicts anything here, tell us and we will correct it and change the date.

FAQ
How much does Text cost per month?
$25 per user billed monthly, or $19 per user billed yearly, on the entry tier. The mid tier is $99 or $79 per user. Multiply by your seat count — this is a per-head product.
What happens when I run out of AI resolutions?
You buy more. Extra capacity is sold in packs of 50 for $49.50, which works out at approximately $0.99 per AI-resolved conversation. Alternatively you upgrade a tier, which raises the per-seat price for everyone on the account.
Is there a free plan?
No permanent free tier — there is a trial. If you want to run AI support for free while you evaluate, that is Tidio, not Text.
Should I pay yearly?
The yearly rate is about 24% below monthly. That is a real saving, but only if you are confident. Run the trial first, and remember you are committing the seat count as well as the product.
